An ORIGIN is what creates the identities of lifeforms, the properties of objects, and the elements of abstraction. Whether we are born, engineered, or transfused into existence, our essence is a product of (re)action. The unique nature of an ORIGIN translates into originality; these are the identities we aim to maintain.

To what extent is an ego something to relinquish? Overconfidence can be harmful to your health; lack of self-worth can lead to killing sprees. Certainly there is an area in between; surely a psychological space can exist where one person can be indifferent to themselves. Can the malignant narcissist still be aware of his ego? One wouldn't want a person to think them self-centered. Would a narcissist actually counterbalance his ego in the same way that he expands it to counter his own shortcomings?

How easily can this "area" be defined if there is no indifference? Any 'narcissist' by definition, will themselves choose what their level of awareness is with all things, therefor there will be no need for them to acknowledge these shortcomings, much less anything else. Input faith into the equation--which is essentially the absence of evidence. This "space between" is not supported by anything of a physical nature, but rather psychological as you mentioned. With that said, I believe that awareness is key, it's just not the only answer.
ReplyDeleteIf some "thing" exists, is it always possible or necessary that it be defined? This "area" is abstract and is defined by its indifference, defined by it's lack of subjectivity. True indifference implies that no stance be taken, while this does not dictate that no thought is taking place. An indifferent thought may coincide with a more objective one but does not have to. It is the ORIGIN that creates these abstractions; are we to define them in an effort to understand them?
ReplyDeleteNo it is not always necessary. Is it possible? Surely, but what if the ORIGIN itself is undefinable? And yes, I do believe that we are meant to define with the best of our ability in order to better understand...
ReplyDeleteThe ORIGIN will not always be defined. Organized religion has made every effort to explain the lack of physical evidence of our ORIGIN; as you said, this is where faith comes in. So, again... must everything be defined for it to be understood? I think we can agree that the answer to this question will vary widely depending on who you speak with. The more scientific the individual, the more likely it will be the case that they will require a definition. We have to be careful when we use the term define; some people define things in ways that are less scientific than others.
